frequently asked questions

how many images will we receive?

The number of images you will receive is based on how many hours you have me on site for! You can expect roughly 40-50 images per hour, and don't worry I don't keep the good stuff out of your gallery, so don't worry you won't miss out any shots!

when will we receive our images?

For portrait sessions you can expect to receive your gallery within 2 weeks of your shoot, but don't worry I'll send you a few sneak peaks shortly after your shoot because I know you'll be excited to see them! Wedding galleries are delivered within 2 months after your wedding date. I'll send you a couple sneak peaks either the night of your wedding or the very next day as well!

can we purchase/see the raw unedited images?

Unfortunately I don't share any raw/unedited images with my couples, but trust me you don't want to see them anyway! I take at minimum 3,000 images on wedding days, which I then go through and get rid of the out of focus/duplicates/weird faces, etc. images and deliver only the best to you! this process is typical industry standard, and if you have any questions or concerns please reach out!

what is required to book you?

To officially get your wedding on my calendar I require a 30% deposit and signed contract. the deposit is due the same day your contract is signed. Unfortunately, I can't block out a date if I don't have both these items from you. It's always best to get them to me right away so no one swoops in and takes your date! For portrait sessions, a 30% deposit is also required, and the final payment is due the day before your session.

do you travel?

Yes, yes, yes! i LOVE to travel and my passport is up to date and ready to go. I do offer different pricing for couples that are eloping or getting married out of state/country. I also have a travel bucket list -HERE- and offer heavy discounts for photography if you're getting married at one of my bucket list locations! email me for more information and pricing on weddings/elopements that require travel.

what equipment do you shoot with?

I shoot with 2 Canon 5D Mark iii's on wedding days. I have Canon 35mm L, Canon 85mm L, Canon 50mm and Sigma 24mm lenses as well as 2 Canon 580ex ii on camera flashes. I do not use any type of off camera flash, and in all honestly try to avoid using any flash at all until I absolutely have to.

what if the weather sucks on our wedding day?

On wedding days we will embrace whatever Mother Nature throws our way! For couples sessions, engagements and portrait sessions though, if the weather is so bad it could damage my gear then we will have to reschedule. I don't like to risk my babies!

do you offer any discounts?

I run promotions for different occasions and the best way to catch those offers is to follow along on my instagram @smiledarlingphoto!

could you help me with a timeline?

Yes! Please don't hesitate for one second if you need timeline help. I'm more than happy to send you examples of what different time frames can cover and give advice for the flow of the day. having a timeline is so important to keep your day running smoothly and keep your vendors in the loop. definitely don't skip this step of the planning process! I also have a blog dedicated to timeline creation if you want to take a look here!

can you photoshop my body?

I really try to encourage body positivity so I don't alter bodies. I of course will get rid of any pesky zits in your pictures but as for photoshopping you to look like someone your not, that isn't something I will do.

what happens if you can't make it to our wedding?

God forbid this were to happen it would have to be something completely out of my control (death, major illness, etc.). If that is the case I would help you find a suitable photographer with a similar style to my own to replace me at your wedding. Don't worry your money will be refunded if I'm not present on your wedding day.
